Giving advice.

Giving advice is the act of making a suggestion to face a situation, for doing it the word "should" is used. If you want to make a sentence for giving advice at the time of speaking you are recommended to follow this structure:

Subject + should + verb (simple present) + complement

Example:

You should see a doctor.

You +  should  + see + a doctor

To know more about this topic watch the following video:

When to add "s" or "es" to the main verb in simple present tense?

An idea that talks about routines is different depending on who the subject in the sentence is, it is not the same if we use the personal pronoun "I" than if the person in the idea is "he, she or it".

If we refer to he, she or it and we are trying to say something that is part of a routine, an "s" or "es" has to be added to the main verb, look at the following image to see how to do it:

Daily life

The simple present is the tense that has to be used when saying something that is part of a person´s routine. An affirmative sentence in simple present is easy to be formed, you just have to follow this structure:

Subject + verb (simple present) + complement

Example:

I take a shower every morning.

I +  take + a shower every morning

Note: when the subject in the sentence is a third person singular (he, she or it), you have to add "s" or "es" to the main verb.

What can you do?

Abilities

To express abilities we use the word "can" if we want to say that we are able to do something or "cannot" if not, whatever your ability is you can easily make a sentence to talk about it. Look at the following video and try to identify information related to how people express abilities:

Now, try to answer this question:

  • What can you do?

How to teach English?

How to teach English?

Teaching English is not an easy task to carry out, it requires to put many skills into practice; however, there is a theory that I consider as the guide that has to be followed when teaching English to young learners; it is the Experiental Learning Cycle proposed by David Kolb.

This cycle is compossed by four stages in which students face a different experience at every one of them:

In the following lines you will read a brief explanation of every stage:

1.- Concrete Experience: At this stage the teacher has to explore the previous knowledge of the students, so this is going to be as a base to start teaching and learning a new content.

2.- Reflective Observation: Teachers have to guide their students to the vocabulary and grammar that they need to learn for them to identify it.

3: Abstract conceptualization: Once the student has identified the grammar points, he/she has to learn how to use and to memorize the new structures or words.

4.- Active Experimentation: Students put what they learned into practice so they use the language to share information and this becomes a new "Concrete Experience" stage.
